So yeah, :iconsimplecomics: now very recently "handed the keys" over to me, and I'm now the new "founder" of the group... as misleading as that title might be. :P LOL
Not been the owner of a group before, but I will do my best to be one.

So, now I just want to ask you all if you're okay with me changing the avatar icon of the group? I won't do it if you disapprove - the last thing I want to do is to make people hate me and/or leave the group. Nothing particular against the icon - just don't personally think it makes much sense to have it black and red on half and blue and white on the other half. I know it was something people voted on - and those colors where the most popular ones. I just feel like one could experiment on updating the icon, and I really don't mean the current one is bad. I think it's good and symbolic. I guess it's just that as an artist myself, I feel like having a touch of myself with the group I own.
As said - will not change it if you don't want me to. Just suggesting it in the most humble way I can. ^^; And also, if you would approve - I would love to get suggestions on how to make the new one. :)

Well, that's all I have to say for now.

DUNE, Part 2 (full review)There was a moment early on in Denis Villeneuve's DUNE part two when I actually laughed out loud. It was the moment when Stilgar tells his peers that "Muad Dib is too humble to admit that he's Muad Dib." It was identical to the scene in Monty Python's LIFE OF BRIAN (1979) when a moron from the back says "Only the true Messiah denies his divinity!" Having read the novel in my youth (happily) and sat through the David Lynch version from 1984 repeatedly (unhappily) I'd reached a point where I despaired that Frank Herbert's sci-fi masterpiece would ever be filmed intelligently. Certainly the miniseries from 20+ years ago was as good as we were ever going to get on a cable TV budget...and now here it has finally arrived and ye gods what a spectacle! A feast for both the eyes and ears... Part 2 picks up without missing a beat where the previous film ended. Paul and his mother have embraced the pre-packaged destiny provided by the Bene Gesserit, and so goes the long march for Paul Atreides. Frank Herbert was always guilty of a bait-and-switch, that being that all of us believed when we began reading DUNE that we were reading a traditional story of the assention of a hero that would in effect 'save the day'. Instead what we end up with is the story of a man who is destined to be worse than a hundred Hitlers. Paul is destined to wage a "Jihad" that will result afterwards in the deaths of 61,000,000,000 human beings. With the completion of Dune, part two we see not the rise of a hero but the assention of a regime far worse than anything yet seen. What Denis Villeneuve has done is given us Frank Herbert's story in tact, and thus preserved it's original intention: as a warning to all against the inhuman dangers that befall those who come under the spell of charismatic leaders and their ilk. "You inherit too much power" said the Reverend Mother to Paul, and she was correct. This movie will spark long debates, conversations and many an argument I've no doubt. Clearly we've much to keep us busy until Dune Messiah arrives, slated for a 2026 release date. But is it a good movie? My friend, this is a masterpiece of cinema and science fiction that can best be enjoyed in a theater. Do yourself a favor and see it!#DUNE #DunePartTwo #DuneMovie #DuneReview #MovieReview #TheGodofCities #TheGodofCities1967 #37thRealm...

Barbenheimer! A review of Barbie and OppenheimerAs a lover of both culture and trends I decided to ride the #Barbenheimer wave and took the plunge. Why these two movies somehow merged into a single lane of the zeitgeist is as much a mystery to me as it is to anyone else. But lets take a look at both and see where it takes us...Oppenheimer (dir. Christopher Nolan) begins in darkness and fire, as if we are witnessing the beginnings of life on earth in IMAX. Most of us already know who Oppenheimer was but nothing outside of the atom bomb. This was core to my interest in wanting to see the film in the first place. It's an astonishing movie about how a man created the ultimate weapon to end the ultimate war. Imagine if you had been key in the creation of such a device? How would you justify its use at all? How would you propose deploying such a weapon? The movie wrestles with the impossible stakes of 1945 and the various missteps and compromises that ultimately lead to the Cold War™. While the film shows us Oppenheimer at times as a womanizer and egocentric it never celebrates these things or condemns him for it either. Nolan's film here presents the man's life stark and leaves it up to the audience to decide his character. There are many reasons to recommend this movie, one of the best being that while it is 3 hours it never once felt lagging or dull. BARBIE (2023) is perhaps best described as The Wizard of Oz in reverse. In the aforementioned classic we see a girl leave our world and have an adventure in Oz to then return home after learning life lessons and committing double homicide. Barbie on the other hand is a literal doll living in Barbieland, a kind of plastic utopia devoid of poverty, introspection or any real meaning other than that which is shallow and frivolous. She leaves (with Ken) to journey here, and this is really where things become interesting. In many ways Barbie the movie feels like Fight Club (1999) for women and girls. Like Fight Club it begins somewhat meta, gets more and more weird and eventually we find a protaganist having an existential crisis. Like the Narrator in Fight Club, Barbie finds her identity collapsing and has no idea why. I've no wish to give away either jokes or spoilers, so I'll just say that I found the film to be wonderfully absurd, deeply witty and frankly I want to see it again. So is there a common thread tying these two movies together? As a matter of fact there is. Both movies feature a protagonist trying to deal with suffering, death, and more. I'm glad I watched Oppenheimer first because after having seen it I honestly needed something to restore my faith in the human race, and Barbie (both the movie and Margot Robbie) did that for me. #Oppenheimer #OppenheimerMovie #Barbie #Barbie2023 #BarbieMovie #Barbenheimer #MovieReview #FilmReview #ChristopherNolan #GretaGerwig #MargotRobbie #37thRealm...

Hey, would you consider adding a folder "Fan Castings" where we can submit collages showing who we want to play a certain role?
